A few months away from the public release of the Astronomy and Astrophysics white paper it is important to think over the present state of Astronomy and Astrophysics in education and society. This conference should have a major role in the construction of a new step in public comprehension of Astronomy in particular and science in general.
With the development of new ways of communication and education in science we aim to present the new challenges of the different agencies involved, both in Portugal and in Europe 
This conference wishes to bring together all the national science education and popularization agents, from schools to the private sector and the media and stimulate the use of new technologies and new approaches in the teaching of astronomy and space science by making it more attractive and all-embracing.
